SEO Tools – Semrush Review
Semrush is an SEO tool that provides a variety of useful features. It can help businesses and marketers research keywords, track competitors, and analyze performance.
It also allows users to perform domain analysis, which can help identify link opportunities. Its keyword research tool offers various filtering options, including broad match, phrase match, exact match, and more.
Keyword Research
Keyword research is an essential aspect of SEO and Semrush makes this extremely easy. It provides the ability to find the best keywords, analyze competitors’ sites, and set up keywords to track — all from a single dashboard. In addition, the tool has a variety of advanced features, including a keyword magic tool that identifies different keyword groups and subgroups related to your seed keyword.
It also has a gap analysis tool that allows you to compare your website’s keywords with those of your top competitors. This is particularly useful when you’re attempting to compete for a certain keyword. The tool also has a visual interface that makes data easier to understand. The backlink network graph and keyword cluster mind map are especially helpful. Although I still prefer Ahrefs for backlink analysis, Semrush has improved its capabilities over the past year. For example, its gap analysis now shows the difference in number of backlinks between your website and those of your top competitors.
Competitor Research
As part of a strong SEO campaign you have to take into account what your competitors are doing, and Semrush makes this aspect of a campaign easy to manage. Its domain analysis tool gives you snapshots of how a site ranks in Google at a glance, and also lets you compare that performance with a number of different competitors.
You can also dig a bit deeper into any domain’s backlink profile, with a nice network graph that lets you see how the links are spread out across a site. This is particularly useful for analysing a competitor’s link building strategy, and it can be a great help when planning your own.
A site audit feature is a good complement to this, giving you a very comprehensive checklist of on-page and technical SEO to-dos. It’s not as extensive as Ahrefs’ version, but it’s still a useful resource to have at your disposal.
Rank Tracking
Unlike many other rank trackers SEMRush provides a clear and concise overview of your keywords and their associated pages. It also offers a variety of other tools that make it stand out such as the Keyword Finder, SEO Checker, Backlink Audit and a SERP tool. This makes it ideal for agencies that need to provide a full suite of tools to their clients.
This powerful tool helps you analyze your current position, determine potential improvements and outline next steps. Simply enter up to four competitor domains and Semrush will instantly display a side by side comparison of key metrics and results.
Whether you’re working on an organic or PPC campaign, Semrush can help you gain a competitive edge by uncovering opportunities that your competitors are missing. Plus, all reports and dashboards are fully white labeled, allowing you to provide your clients with a seamless agency experience. This bolsters your value proposition and reinforces your commitment to delivering tangible results.
Link Building
Another key advantage over competitor products is that if you pay for a full subscription, then you also get access to Bing data (although some key competing tools like Ahrefs offer more generous reporting limits for this too). It’s a great feature that can help you spot opportunities that you might otherwise have missed.
One of the other standout features of SEMrush is its backlink analysis tool. Drop your domain in and it will return a list of sites that share your backlinks, plus detailed information about those sites and their links.
This is extremely useful for identifying potential link opportunities and building outreach campaigns. It can also help you understand what kind of content your competitors are producing and how much LSI keywords they include. This can be particularly helpful for discovering a topic to write about yourself that’s not yet covered by your competition. The tool also has a keyword gap module which allows you to compare your own performance against competitors for specific keywords and phrases.
