    Hi Tim
I was wondering if you may be able to help me I have done your core data tutorial which is really been both rewarding and really easy to follow. My next step is to take the Role table and list all the people in that role on one table ie programmer – John Smith, Frank Brown, George Benson etc and if you then tap any one of there names it will then open that persons details on the persondetails table.

I hope you can have a look into this and see what you can do even if you can help with the call code I know it would involve another tableviewcontroller a new class and a segue from the Role table with a button to it

I look forward to any help you may give.

    thank you and best regards

I hope you can explain how apps can link to more than one storyboard (for grouping logical modules or having one for each tab).
That would be great for teamwork avoiding storyboard merges.

Congrats on the release of TeamWork. You have really polished up what you provided in the tutorial. It is very slick looking especially on the iPad. I wish you great luck with the application. I appreciate that you shared your experience in developing it with us.

Hey Tim, I write for Apps Magazine in the UK and we’d love to review Teamwork. Is the any chance of getting hold of a promo code for the App Store?

    Thanks

      Hi Freddie,

Would it be ok to wait for the next version before review or is this a comparison review with other similar apps and hence is time sensitive?

I’ve already submitted this next version to Apple however their review process is very slow at the moment, probably because they’re releasing iOS6 soon.

      Cheers

        Hi Tim,

Thanks for getting back to me. My deadline isn’t for another week so I can at least wait that long. Hopefully it’ll make it through Apple’s review process before then.

        Thanks,

        Freddie

I just purchased Teamwork today and am hooked. I think it is a great concept. I have a few ideas that I would like to share with you on possible enhancements. What’s the best way to communicate with you?

    Hi Tim,
Below are my initial thoughts. I’ve started using Teamwork tonight and have lots of ideas.
    1) Allow for custom icons for each team member (perhaps a picture or other avatar)
    2) When clicking on a team member, automatically hide the Team listing to reveal tasks for that team member, instead of having to click on the tasks section of the screen, or having to slide team members over to the left.
    3) In the Notes section, eliminate the yellow bar and allow text to be entered in the entire bottom section on the screen
    4) Allow new work tasks to be created for a team member when viewing their work assignments. Instead of having to go to the Work tab.
    5) Show the day of the week along with the date in the calendar when setting a deadline.
    6) Fix the way that the yellow notes section moves up and down when entering a lot of text. That is, if #3 can’t be addressed.
    7) Establish Dropbox back capabilities.
    8) Create a desktop app to support the iPad/iPhone app. Could generate more revenue for you.
    9) Allow for a way to sort Teammates manually, I.e. sr staff or managers on top, etc.
    10) Allow for creation of separate teams. Eg. I manage two departments and want to separate the teams into individual groups.
    11) Create different icons for different priorities so you can visually identify top Priority items vs lesser priorities.
    12) Consider creating another type of role such as one that only tasks or comments could be assigned. I created an Associate role called Team Meetings and added Work Assignments to represent agenda items for my department meetings.
    13) I have found that the app crashes when entering large amounts of text in the Notes section then going back to the Team tab.

As you can imagine, I have been looking for an app like this for a while and been thinking of exactly how I wanted to use it.

Thanks for reading this and considering my suggestions.

      Hi Larry,

Thanks for purchasing Teamwork. I’m glad you like the concept and hope it helps you manage your staff.

A few days after releasing Teamwork I was thrown a curveball by a publisher who asked me to write a book for them. Since signing the contract for that book I’ve been left with a lot less time to work on Teamwork than I had anticipated post release. This will remain the case until mid to late next year. I have a string of enhancements I’d also like to add to the product, the only caveat to getting them in being time. The book I’m writing will cover topics similar to some of the features you’ve requested so I’ll probably add them to Teamwork as I get up to writing those chapters.

There are a lot of good suggestions in there, what features in particular would you most like to see? Here are some comments on each point:

      1) Added to my to-do list
      2) This is already on my to-do list however requires a big fundamental change to the screen layout. I wanted the person list to hide to make way for a gantt planning chart that would alter work timeframes using drag and drop.
      3) Would this notes area be always visible on screen when a user / work is selected or would you have to scroll to the bottom of the screen to see the notes?
      4) Agree. This annoys me too and is at the top of the to-do list.
      5) The Apple supplied date picker wheel unfortunately does not support listing a weekday. I’d prefer to use the date picker you see in the native iPhone calendar app however is not available for developers to use. I’m hoping Apple change this soon, it is frustrating.
      6) Added to my to-do list
      7) Already on the to-do list
      8) I’ve never made a Mac application before however it is on the cards. Maybe later in 2013.
      9) You mean like the way you can sort subtasks? That shouldn’t be too difficult to do, the only problem is the button that would be used to enable sorting is taken up by the add person/add work button so I’d need to re-home that somewhere else that made sense.
      10) This is something I’d never considered that also has implications across the e-mail reporting functionality. I’ll have to give this some thought.
      11) This would be pretty easy to do. Should the priority icon be separate from the icon that represents overdue / warning state?
      12) What’s the real need here? Is it to flag work items for discussion in your next team meetings? Perhaps I could add a ‘discuss’ switch that makes work show up on a new ‘discuss’ tab. This way the agenda could write itself. From the discuss tab you could turn the discuss switch off once you had spoken to the team about it and perhaps agreed who would take ownership of that work.
      13) This sticks out as the first thing I need to fix. I’ve never been able to make the app crash, perhaps it’s an iOS 6 thing. What are the exact steps to reproduce? What model iPad do you have, I assume you’re using the iPad version?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I’ll do what I can to get some of those in around the hectic schedule the next 10 months has in store!

      Cheers

      Tim

    Hi Tim

Great app, putting it to good use immediately on my iPhone. There are a couple of requests however that I hope you’d consider for a future release:

    1. Synchronizing with an iPad via iCloud (or other cloud service).
    2. Ability to add attachments (photo, audio) to tasks
    3. For team members, I myself have tasks assigned so it would be good if there was a 3rd option for relationship, My Direct Report Yes/No or self.
    4. Ability to move tasks around, i.e. move from one parent to another
    5. The email/reporting feature is awesome. I send these out weekly to my mgmt, but can send them to my team at any time. For mgmt, they prefer to see high level items, while my team would need to see all details. It would be great if I could give items a “report level” such that when an email/report is generated, I could tell the system up to which level to report on. It would include only the appropriate items based on their “report level”

Despite my suggestions, I’m already realizing efficiencies with this app.

    Thanks for the awesome app.

      Hi Winston,

I’m glad you’re getting some use out of the app. I have taken a diversion from updating Teamwork to write a book on Core Data. Once that book is finished (mid to late 2013) I’ll be adding heaps of features to Teamwork including the suggestions you’ve put forward!

      Cheers,

      Tim

    Hi Tim,
I started using TW some time ago. Since the iPad is additional device for me, I was wondering if it is possible to have the version for regular Mac (or the app that is not tided to the platform, e.g. Evernote) with all that synking ability (iCloud?). It would help much people who work virtually on two-three devices. I will appreciate your comment.
    Best. Piotr

      Hi Piotr,

iCloud support will be added once I’ve finished writing my book. Unfortunately that’s 6 months away.

      Cheers
